What is the key difference between FortiGate NAT/Route mode and Transparent mode?

NAT/Route mode is Layer 3: interfaces have IP addresses, FortiGate routes and performs NAT between zones. Transparent mode is Layer 2: interfaces have no IPs (except management), FortiGate bridges traffic inline without any IP addressing changes or NAT.
